CSEA brings members closer to U.S. citizenship

LOS ANGELES—Reaching U.S. citizenship is the final step to becoming an American for many who leave their native countries in search of a better life.

However, with a filing fee, fingerprinting, an eight-page application and a face-to-face interview, this process can be intimidating. That’s why CSEA sponsored a citizenship workshop to help members and their families demystify this complicated process. On Dec. 2, CSEA staff, volunteer paralegal students and local immigration attorneys explained the requirements for becoming a citizen, answered questions and helped CSEA members get the citizenship process started.

“Why not become an American?” attorney J. Craig Fong asked. “For so many of our families, becoming a naturalized citizen has been a dream.”
